When someone nearby searches for a service “near me”, Google shows a map with three businesses at the top. Here is how local businesses in Burewala, Vehari, Multan and across Punjab can earn a place there.
To rank on Google Maps in Punjab, claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile, choose the most accurate primary category, keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere, collect genuine reviews regularly, add photos and posts, and support the profile with a fast website that has local pages and LocalBusiness schema.
How Google ranks local businesses
Google explains that local results are mainly based on three factors:
- Relevance: how well your profile matches what the person searched for.
- Distance: how far your business is from the searcher or the location they mention.
- Prominence: how well known and trusted your business is, including reviews and mentions across the web.
You cannot change distance, but you can improve relevance and prominence a lot.
Step 1: Claim and verify your profile
Search for your business on Google Maps. If it exists, claim it; if not, create it at Google Business Profile. Complete verification so you can manage it.
Step 2: Choose the right categories
Your primary category matters more than almost anything else. Pick the one that best describes your main service, then add a few accurate secondary categories.
Step 3: Fill in every field
- Business description using your one-sentence summary and main services
- Services or products with short descriptions
- Accurate opening hours, including holidays
- Website link and WhatsApp or phone number
Step 4: Keep NAP consistent
NAP means name, address and phone. Use exactly the same format on your website footer, Facebook, directories and anywhere else you are listed. In Pakistan, landmarks are common in addresses, so pick one version and stick to it.
Step 5: Build a review routine
Ask every satisfied customer for a review, ideally right after a good experience. Send your review link on WhatsApp to make it easy. Reply to every review, positive or negative, politely and quickly.
Step 6: Add photos and posts
Upload real photos of your premises, team and work. Publish short updates or offers regularly. Active profiles signal that the business is open and engaged.
Step 7: Support it with your website
Your website should have a clear location page, your NAP in the footer, an embedded map and LocalBusiness schema. If you serve several cities, create a genuinely useful page for each one instead of copying the same text.
Step 8: Get local mentions
List your business on reputable Pakistani directories, local association websites and community pages. Sponsor or take part in local events that get mentioned online.
Common mistakes
- Stuffing city names into the business name
- Using different phone numbers on different platforms
- Buying fake reviews, which can get a profile suspended
- Ignoring negative reviews instead of responding
